Hi! My name is Monica Peña, and I joined Rock Life Counseling because I’m passionate about helping my clients get the very best care.

I help clients who are dealing with:

  • Depression
  • Relationship Issues
  • Substance Abuse
  • Childhood Trauma and PTSD
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Sexuality
  • And more

I spent the early part of my career serving individuals struggling with both substance addiction and mental health challenges. I frequently refer to substance abuse treatment as my “first love” as a therapist, thanks to this early experience. Since then, I have taken on leadership roles, mentoring and supervising counselors who are new to the field. I’ve walked beside young professionals, parents with young kids, and clients from all walks of life as they face challenging times. I’m confident that I am equipped with the tools to help you, too!

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of California Berkeley and my Master’s in Social Work at San Jose State University.

While in school, I struggled with an eating disorder and anxiety that threatened to derail my educational goals. A counselor who was warm, accepting, and trustworthy helped me to overcome these challenges. By graduation, I knew that I wanted to spend my career giving to others what that counselor gave me: Hope and the ability to live my best life. This experience has fueled a strong interest in treating those with eating disorders and body image struggles. I am an advocate for the Health At Every Size (HAES) movement and am interested in building my experience working with individuals who would like to overcome these challenges.

I believe that you are the expert on your own life. I’m here to walk beside you as you face life’s challenges, and share tools that will help you live your best life. Let’s talk about your goals and create a plan to help you reach them!
